Day 36 Wine Labelling

Hey guys, we have come to our last page of our wine story. Kinda sad huh, I know right. But don't worry, this page will last forever, you can simply open our website again and again to look at all the journey we have been through :):):):)
Alright guys, now let us get back to what we are here for. Yesterday we did our final step of our wine making, the "Bottling" process, that is to transfer all the wine into the wine bottle. Now, it is our labelling and the whole brainstorming process.
First of all, we think and think of how our wine label component should be placed. So first of all we tried to draw it in a piece of paper.

After hours of thinking, finally the wine labels are done, both the front side and the information side. And here it is ta dah. We print it using a water resistance materials, of course it is to prevent it from getting wet. 




Finally after attaching it to the wine bottle, this is our final Suchwein Merry. Like finally accomplished. Yayyy

Reflective Learning Assignment (Mellisa Ataliel BH 12 G 2)

The three important Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that helped me to complete the wine making project assignments are, for the first one is communication skills, the reason why communication skills is the important thing because I have to communicate with other members group to achieve our goal together and each members group should have a good English language because English language is the main language for Taylor’s University students, because if when we do something together and we don’t have a good communication skills we might not be able achieve our goal easily, for the second one is thinking and problem solving skill and the reason is as a group members we should have a thinking and problem solving skills because when we facing the problem we have to think what’s wrong with it and then we could overcome the problem together which is means each group members should give their ideas to overcome and solve the problem to achieve our goals, and then the third one is interpersonal skills. Interpersonal skills is how I communicate with others which is means as a group members I have to discuss and listen each other, the way I speak with each members group is also very important.
How did I achieve the skills that I mentioned above is for the communication skills I always train my English language by way of listening English music, reading English book, talk using English language with my friends, so it can help me to improve my English language. For the thinking and problem solving skills is me and my group should sit and think together when we facing the problem which is mean we collect every ideas from each members group and we discuss what the best idea to solve our problem is, and then for the interpersonal skills I should know etiquette how to communicate with others group, for the example I couldn’t speak like a boss, I have to speak like a leader which is mean I have to polite when I tell my group members to do something.

How I can improve my communication skills? I try always use English language with my friends which is means I’m Indonesian and I have to speak English my Indonesian friends also, it can help me improve my communication skills and I try to associate with others foreigners, and I always read a book at least once per day to improve my English language and if I didn’t understand what I read, I use translator device to help me translating that word, and watching movie with English subtitles.

During my wine making project there are three Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that helped me to accomplish my wine making project. The first one is discipline specific knowledge, it is able to apply what I learned from theory class to the wine making project. The second one is communication skills, it is able to communicate well with other team member either in personal or through social media. Third one is interpersonal skills, it is the ability to get along with others.
            The first TGC that I’ve achieved is the discipline specific knowledge, through the wine making project I am able to contribute what I have learned from the theory class to the project. The theory class taught me that in the wine making process, the wine should not be in contact with too much oxygen because too much oxygen can cause changes in the taste of the wine. That’s why when my team and I were making the wine, we tried not let the wine be in contact with the air by covering the lid of the bottle directly. The second TGC that I am able to accomplish is the communication skills, for me it is one of the skills that is very important for this wine making project. Without communication with my group mates, the project cannot succeed because in order to do the wine project we should communicate more often about the wine making development, because I live at U-Residence and my group mates live at Suriamas we often communicate through social media which is line. The third TGC that I’ve achieved is interpersonal skills, it means that I have the abilities to build good relationship with my group mates so that we can work together as a team. For example, we agree to make the wine making project at Suriamas and when the wine making project started we helped each other by sharing tasks, so each of us get 1 tasks and the wine making project becomes easier because we work as a team.
            I want to improve my discipline specific knowledge skills because I like to make useful of the things that I have learned from the theory class. If I’m able to apply the theory that I’ve learned means that I’m fully understand the theory class and I can apply it to my future job or career. Nowadays, self-discipline is very much needed because in the future I will be prepare for what is coming.

(1) What were the three important Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that helped you complete the task “Wine Making Project” successfully?
- Communication skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Thinking and problem solving

(2) Briefly mention, how did you achieve the skills that you have mentioned above with proper examples?
We use our smartphone to communicate in order make the wine, we work together and help each other where everybody did their part. When we want to go to the next step, we use one of our laptop to search exactly how to carry on next.

 (3) Please describe how you can improve at least one of these skills that you mentioned above with proper examples?

I think I can improve these skills by using internet and smartphone. Because I think both of them are very important in day to day basis. What else, almost every information to fill from Internet (for exactly is from Google). We usually communicate through the phone, and we make a group to discuss about wine making project, because it will make easier to discuss about this assignment.

 Briefly mention, how did you achieve the skills that you have mentioned above with proper examples?
1.    For Digital Literacy , of course we used it that capabilities often , because in this course the lecture always tell us you can search on google with your phone or any device you had . example like when you search “how to make wine” you can search on google . they can tell u everything.
2.    For Discipline specific knowledge , before you go to the practical you have to know about the theory first. Example like when you going to make wine you have to read the guide first , you have to know what equipments and ingredients that you need. That’s why in beverage studies class when the lecturer explain about the material we need to write on the note.
3.    For interpersonal skills , i think that capabilities i got from making wine. Example like when the lecturer tell us to make a group for making wine. Then we prepare for the equipment and ingredients. And from this capabilities we can get the teamwork for making wine.

Please describe how you can improve at least one of these skills that you mentioned above with proper examples?

i think we need to focused when the lecturer explaining the material. Then we have to write a note. Because this subject to difficult to remember. Thats why we have to pay more attention to this subject. i think that’s it from me. Thankyou Mr.Steven.

(1) What were the three important Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that helped you complete the task “Wine Making Project” successfully?

Ans: The three important TGC that helped me to complete the "Wine Making Project" is Discipline Specific Knowledge, Thinking and Problem Solving Skills, and Digital Literacy.

 (2) Briefly mention, how did you achieve the skills that you have mentioned above with proper examples?

Ans: The first the TGC that I have achieve is Discipline Specific Knowledge, one of the most obvious practice that involves this TGC is that we are able to put theories into practices. We did the wine making project base on what Mr. Steven has told us in the class through the presentation and in the same time we also take the note as the reference. In order to make this wine, we also need discipline and that is to come to the wine everyday and checked how is the fermentation process and the racking process.

The second TGC that I have helped me is Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. When we finished our pre-fermentation process, we think and think which location will suit best for the temperature, and at the end we decided to locate it in a corner in the living room where there is no sunlight which is one of the enemy of wine. and then there is this one time, during our wine fermentation process, the balloon that is inflating on top of the wine popped out.When we realized it, we immediately change the popped balloon with a new one, and keep on monitoring the progress of the new balloon, luckily the fermentation process still happens and the wine is successfully prepared until the end.

The third TGC is the most obvious one and that is Digital Literacy. This wine making project has involved us on searching a lot of reference and data from the internet. Of course, the blog-making project, is the real thing, We learn how to make a blog and updated the wine-making process to the blog. It really improved our Digital Literacy skills.

(3) Please describe how you can improve at least one of these skills that you mentioned above with proper examples?

Ans: In the discipline specific knowledge TGC's, I believe I can improve it more by taking Mr. Steven presentation as the reference and of course, I believe we can improve it even more if we take note and listen to what Mr. Steven had explained right from the start of the discussion. Of course being self-disciplined is also important, because it will guide us during our lifetime learning. Thank You Mr. Steven :)

Suchwein Merry Day 35 - Bottling

Yo webtizen!!! Especially my loyal reader hahahaha!! I know right you guys are very excited of what's going to happen today. and Yeap yeap you are totally right! Something is happening today on our Suchwein Merry Wine. Yayyy! It is entering it's final step of our wine making and that is it's Dressing hahahahaha.  By saying dressing, I mean, is to transfer all the wine in plastic bottle to a REAL WINE BOTTLE!! ;;) Yipi Yipi!!!

Right, so what we do, is we take the bottle out from the refrigerator *you don't say* Then we start transfering the wine to the wine bottle. But before that, we still did the final racking on the wine, that is to filter all the remaining yeast away. Ta Dahhhh!! You must be thinking that am I missing one last step. But no ladies and gentlemen, we didn't clear the wine with egg white or gelatin, it is because our wine is TOTALLY CLEAR. Thus, we skipped the egg white process and immediately put it inside the wine bottle. The following is the picture of our work.

Suchwein Merry Day 23-34 - Aging

November 1 - 12, 2015

Hello Hello again guys!!! Omg, I miss this blog :( It's been a long time since I last logged in back, and I'll tell you all about what has happened to the wine :) There guys, what have you been doing all this while, actually nothing much has happened to the wine you know....But but but, there will be some progression coming on this saturday. We are going to move the wine to a real wine bottle 😆😆😆😆 Yay, like finally our wine is completed
Look at its vibrant colour !!! So sweet and reddish right. I know the appearance look really nice but I believe the taste will be way better hehehehe :) During this 12 days of aging, the wine has been experiencing a lot of reaction inside the bottle. I know right there is nothing much to talk about, but don't you worry we'll be back this weekend, and bring to you the process of the transferring the wine to a real wine bottle. I know right so exciting hahahaha, just you wait then.

Suchwein Merry Day 19 - 22

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I had last checked in, and yeah I am back. Bringing you the latest news of our wine. Do any body know the reason why I didn't checked in everyday, it is because yeah the wine is on its process of aging. Which means that all we got to do was to keep it in the fridge and wait for it to age.

In this process, the colour of our wine is slowly changing from light red to dark red. We were a bit frustrated at the start due to the non-redness of the wine. But now we can be assured because the wine has slowly turn red and even redder.

Yay, and recently we stop racking it because we realiezed that the moment we rack the wine, a little bit of the amount will spilled out. Guess what will happen when we rqcked for 20 times, I believe a glass of wine is what we had left by that time. That is why all we did was to observed the wine. So, that's it for now guys, another 3 weeks and our wine is complete. Can't wait for that day hahahaha!

Hey guys, how are you doing tonight? Great right. Of course, well our night? Don't know what to say hahahaha. I believe our story in the post will start to get boring again. Because yeah, what we did today was to rack the wine again, to make sure that the yeast disappear. Some of you must be thinking that "Hmmm, even after two days of racking the wine, the yeast is not disappearing yet?", and the answer is No! Even after a few times of racking the yeast will not disappear, there will always be some yeast left underneath the bottle. Now here is the image of the wine before we rack it just now.
:Look at the white substance, it sure is not as thick as two days ago right. Yeap, I know that we are doing a great job, because we have been taking care of the wine since day 1. Hehehehehe. After that we do the usual stuff, that is to rack the wine, so we transfer the wine and then move it back to a clean bottle, and yeah that's it. Sure is a nice experience to make a wine you know :)

Hi guys , how are you? Good? Bad? Hahaha i have some good news for you. The yeast that is underneath the bottle got thinner  :) but yeah the yeast is still there. It did not completely disappeared. Too bad guys due to one of our teammate forget to take the picture of the yeast. So sorry peeps for that :(  then we did the racking and the thin layer of yeast disappeared again yeayyyyyy!!!!!

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 16 - Filtration

Yo guys, today we are in the second day of our wine racking process. We are amazed and in the same time confused. Cause we believe yesterday we did really well in the racking process. But today what we found is that there is still a lump of yeast underneath the bottle.


Look at those white thingy, that is the so called yeast. I believe we racked it so well yesterday, but turned out that they camouflaged really well right. No wonder, Mr. Steven told us to rack at least 1 week. Yeah, and we are doing it for the second time today. So we do usual procedure, we transfer the wine to another container, strained the yeast, and the transfer the wine back in the clean bottle. Just as usual the white substance underneath the bottle disappeared. Yeah, we will come back tomorrow and let's see will the yeast come back.

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 15 - Racking

Hey guys, we are here, we're here, and what a Saturday night we had. How is your Saturday night guys?  Must be awesome right, yeahhhh.. Ours too of course. We had move on to the next step of the wine making process. It is amazing yeah hahaha. We did a lot of work last night. Let's stop the empty talk and start showing you guys the real thing.

This is the picture of our Suchwein Merry before we start racking our wine.


So we started by doing a few procedure. Hygiene is important, so we put on our gloves *although it is not a glove*. Then we prepare some equipments such as, strainer, funnel, and, a container for the wine.



We started by removing the balloon from the bottle, and you know what the smell was amazing, felt like puking though hahahahaha.




After we remove the balloon from the cap, we have to cut the upper part of the bottle into half, in order to get the grapes out to the strainer. 



After cutting the upper part of the bottle, we can start pouring the grapes into the strainer to get the fermented grape must. But make sure that you strained it well to remove the majority yeast that is still in the grape. Then, in the same time, we need to squeeze the grape juice out of the grapes that is in the strainer, to maximize the fermented grape out.





There you go, we have our almost-ready Suchwine Merry Wine that has fermented for two weeks. Although the color of the wine is funny but believe me it'll end up really great. Now what is left for us to do is to put the wine in the container back to a nice clean bottle to contain it during the upcoming 1-week racking process.




Tadahhhhhh!! Here you go a nice wine made up from our 2 weeks fermentation. So, who wants to taste it first? Stop! stop! stop! Nope, it is not ready to consume yet. There are still a lot of yeast particle in it. That is why we are suppose to rack the wine every day. Right, so that's it? Just remember to loosen the cap of the bottle. The purpose of doing it, is to make sure that the carbon dioxide is not causing the wine to burst out when we open it, in the next day. After that just remember to keep the wine in a chilled place, and that is the chiller.

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 14

Hello Hello. Guys, guess what!!! We are one day away till we start to rack our wine. Hip hip yay. At last my viewer will not get bored to what I'm about to post anymore hahahahaha. Hey guys, how are you doing? I don't think there is nothing much that I will be talking about today, becausssssseeeee, all I wanted to do right now is to sleep, and wake up tomorrow to start operating our wine yay. Yes, I know that you guys are also excited right, I bet you are flowing with exciting energy to see what we will do tomorrow right hahahaha.

By the way peeps, just now I was observing our wine and found out that the yeast and the grape has been separated by all of the grape must, which then leave all the yeast at the bottom of the bottom while the fermentated grape floated in the grape must. Sure is a big progress right guys hahaha. But I do feel a little bit gross when I looked at those grape, it was all gloomy and full of fungi I guess hahahaha. Anyway guys, here is the latest update of how our wine has become.


I know the balloon is not growing anymore, feels kinda sad, because I like big balloons hahahaha, but in the same time feeling super excited because we are about to move on to the new step of our wine-making process yay!! So, stay tune for tomorrow update guys, We will see you tomorrow. Byeeeee!!

Hey peeps, yoyoyoyoyoyo, I miss you guys!!! But I suppose you guys are sick of me right. Coming here everyday saying the same thing every single time hahahahaha. Be patient guys because we are 2 days away to a new chapter of our Suchwein Merry Wine story. Right guys. Today is just another day and yet another day that our wine is fermentating. Again and again and again. By the way, what have you guys been doing lately? Have you been facing some wine-related cases?

I would like briefly to talk about history. Speaking of history, everybody has their own life story, and so does wine. It was discovered that the earliest archaeological evidence of wine production yet found has been at sites in Georgia (c. 6000 BC) and Iran (c. 5000 BC). 6000 BC can you guys imagine how long since wine has been found. It's just amazing how this early civilization have invented everything, with those simple and primitive equipment. What about us? Of course we can do better. That is why we reassured you guys that our Suchwein Merry Wine will be a success. Then we will deliver you guys tasty wine to show just in the blog HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 12

Hey peeps, we are back again. Today is a really bad day, you know why because the haze reach 206 API. But, it is also a joyful day for everyone because the air pollution index shoots through 200 which means no class yayyyyy *run*. Hahahahaha, just kidding, hazy day means we need to stay at home, so that we can keep our body fit. Right, now let us get on to what we are here for.

As usual, today is still another day for our Suchwein Merry going through the fermentation process. But I detected something unusual, the grapes start to swell and grow very nasty. But all of sudden, I recalled what Mr. Steven told us that it is normal for the grape to grow that way because that is what fermentation is all about. Fermentation is the process where yeast is the agent to transform the wine to be more alcoholic. Thus, our wine is now in it's 12 days of fermentation, just a few more days to go. Yay!!! In the following is the update of how our wine has become.

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 11

Dear Bloggary, today is another beautiful day that our Suchwein Merry Wine has been going through. Yeah, and do you know what happen today??? And again FERMENTATION HAHAHAHAHA, great right! But guys do you know that fermentation was actually the most important process in the wine making because during the fermentation process, the grape is being processed by means of converting the grape to a more acidic state, thus making it so alcoholic. Hehehehe how bout it, feeling more satisfied after understanding it right?
Yeap, and again here is he update of our wine.
Btw, you can see that the green coloured balloon is not growing anymore, I believed it is in its maximum capacity due to its different shape of balloon compared with the blue balloon. So I guess it was fine. So how about it guys. I believe all of you are so excited and can't wait to taste our upcoming Suchwein Merry wine right!!!! Hurray!

Yoyoyoyo what's up guys !!! I know it is the best day of the week, "Monday" yeahhh, everybody loves monday right *puke*. I know you guys actually hates them but not for me, cause I am always shining as brigh as our Suchwein Merry Wine yayty hahahahaha.

Let's cut the crap, i'm here today to tell the progress of our fragrant upcoming wine. Yippy, the suchwein merry wine is fermentating well. *i know that i have been mentioning this line every single day* Be patient guys because the fermntation will reached two weeks by this weekend yayyy then after that we will brought you different kind of stories all right !!!

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 9

Yoyoyoyoyoyoyo, whats up guys!! I know, the way I type the whole process during this 9 days has transformed from good to worst, from polite to wild. Hahahahaha, I am sure Mr. Steven wouldn't mind :) Well yeah, once again and again and again, our wine is still good, i mean our on-going wine is still really good. It is still kicking, still fermentating, and what's important is the balloon is inflating really well Hoorayy!!!

Here is the latest update of the wine guys:


Looking sweet right!!! Ikr!! It was nice, although you won't want to peep inside the bottle :) Well, today our team did a little something different than any other day. We were promoting our blog to other people so that they would have a visit to our blog, to check us up. Of course, one of the objectives is to increase the number of blog views hehehehe. I believe it is one of our way to improve ourselves with some of their comments and critics.

Pipolllll, the weekend is here!!! How is your weekend guys, I'm sure you are having a blast right now. Me, I'm just here sitting on my bed, updating the laptop of what's going on with the wind, hahahaha!!! Nah, don't worry, I'm cooler this way though. :)))

Well, today was actually another boring day to talk about, because nothing much has happened to the wine. Yeah, the wine is still under-going the fermentation, and yeah of course we did cleaned the bottle today. Hehehehehehe, now what else, is there even something new that happened today. Hmmmm let me think?? OH Yeah!! There is this something, we TILTED the bottle a little bit to the right so the wine will look a bit nicer. Got yaaaaaaaa!!!! Hahahaha!! Well, I'm being a little bit lonely tonight, so ignore my cheekiness guys. Here it is the latest Suchwein Merry Wine.

Yo guys, we are here today and our wine finally hits one week old yeahh. *clap2* Another 7 hardcore days to go. All right, now for today's situation. I am feeling a bit worried though, because the blue balloon is slowly deflating. Soon after that, we immediately do a thorough checkup with the balloon, at the end we are glad because no holes were found. But then we started to get worried again, fearing if something might happen to the fermentation process. So we consulted with Mr. Steven, our beverage studies lecturer, and he told us that it is normal for it to happen. Due to the unstable condition of the fermentation process. Suchwein Merry Wine Day 6

Peeps, we are in the day 6, where yesterday is a horrific day for our Suchwein Merry. One of the balloon popped. But today, the balloon thrives because i guess the fermentation is going really well. Yeah, we believe that at the end we are able to create our own fine-quality wine. Now, who knows that one day we will be opening a wine business, it is not a sin to dream though. Hahahaha.

Yeah, the green balloon is growing really fine right. I know we are to cool to handle. JK :)

Suchwein Merry Wine Day 5

Hi guys, today is definitely not a good day for us. Especially to our on-process Suchwein Merry wine. One of the balloon popped and all the air burst out. Seriously it was a nightmare for us, what we all fear from yesterday came true :( . We felt so hopeless for the moment, but of course when you fell, you have to pick yourself up again. We immediately think out of a way to get out of this messed. We take another balloon, straight away we attached it to the bottle mouth. All we got to do was hoping for miracle to happen. Because Mr. Steven once told us that oxygen is good for our health but definitely not good for out wine. That is why we fear that the balloon will not grow anymore.

Alright guys here we are yay. We waited for a few hours and look. The balloon started to grow, oh how glad we are. And so the fermentation process goes on. Let's hope that this two balloon could still last for another 10 days.
